Who: Teenage and Adults interested in the basics of the Arabic linguistics found in the Quran
What: Intensive Arabic course on the Fawakih Arabic Arabic Tutor with Fawakih Director of Arabic Hisham Mahmood
This course is designed for beginner to intermediate students of Quanic Arabic who are interested in a crash course in basic Arabic grammar. Rules of Nahu and Sarf will be covered in a survey fashion in order to familiarize the students with lessons covered in one of the primary textbook utilized by Fawakih courses across the country: Arabic Tutor. (Pdf versions of the book will be available on-site for registered students.) Familiary with the grammar lessons present in the book are recommended but not required. The course will be fast pasted and is intended as an introduction or review but not mastery of the book. Topics covered:
-Categorization of Arabic words
-Singular and plurals / Types of plurals in Arabic
-Verbal and Nominal Sentences
-The "Awzan" - Arabic roots, patterns, and derivatives

HishamMahmoud is the Director of Arabic at Fawakih and an Arabic Lecturer atPrinceton University, where he teaches all levels of Modern and Classical Arabic. He has studied Arabic and its ancillary sciences with scholars in Egypt, Spain, Morocco, and Mauritania, where he pursued the disciplines of grammar, morphology, and rhetoric. He has held positions in Arabic at UCLA, Middlebury, and Yale University. He has translated and edited several classical Islamic works on issues pertaining to ethics, jurisprudence, and legal theory, and has also lectured at dozens of universities nationwideonsubjectspertaining to comparative religion. Mr. Mahmoud isan advisory board member of al-Madina Institute andthe Executive Editor for the Zaytuna CurriculumSeries, which serves the four-year BachelorsDegree Program for Zaytuna. In addition to his expertise in Arabic, Ustadh Hisham has advanced knowledge of Spanish and has also studied Hebrew and Farsi. Ustadh Hisham overseas curriculum development and training at Fawakih.
